FSANZ Rejects Novel Food Application for Moringa oleifera Due to Safety Concerns

The available scientific evidence was insufficient to definitively establish the safety of moringa oleifera and its products for human consumption.

On December 11, 2025, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published its decision to reject Application A1294, which sought to permit the sale of Moringa oleifera leaves (fresh and dried), immature seed pods, and seed oil as novel foods or food ingredients.
