India FSSAI Amends the Food Product Standards and Food Additives

    • FSSAI amends regulations about dairy products, including protein concentrates and colostrum products.

    On Nov. 27, 2018, India amended the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, specifying standards for milk protein concentratewhey protein concentrate as well as cow or buffalo colostrumand colostrum products as food supplements.

    2. Essential composition and quality factors
    3. Food additives
    4. Hygiene
    5. Labeling

    Besides the amendment mentioned above, FSSAI also issued another three notices to revise the regulations related to standards of formulated supplementsfor childrenoil productspastes, cocoa products, vegetable protein products,thermally processed fruit products, quick frozen French fried potatoes, canned chestnuts and canned chestnut puree, edible fungus products, ginger, ginger powder, tomato ketchup and tomato sauce on the same day.     This amended regulation came into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
