Japan Liquid Infant Formula Standard

On Aug 8, 2018, Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) published a revised Ministerial Ordinance on Ingredient Specifications for Milk and Dairy Products along with a revised Specification Standard for Food and Additives.

Ministerial Ordinance on Ingredient Specifications for Milk and Dairy Products

   1. Definition of modified liquid milk

     Modified liquid infant formula refers to products obtained by processing raw milk, cow's milk, special milk or additionally food processed and fortified with essential nutrients for infants

   2. Ingredient specifications of modified liquid milk

   3. Preservation standard for modified liquid milk at room temperature is in line with current standard for milk beverage

   4. Package shares the same specification for milk beverage

   5. Allowed raw material and additives: same with current milk powder standard
