Japan Proposes Revisions to Labeling Standards for Foods with Nutrient Function Claims

Japan’s draft amendment revises the Food Labeling Standards for Foods with Nutrient Function Claims by adjusting the upper and lower content limits for several nutrients. The proposal also updates the authorized function claims for multiple nutrients.

On July 1, 2026, Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) released a draft amendment to the Food Labeling Standards concerning Foods with Nutrient Function Claims (FNFC). The proposal introduces significant revisions, including changes to the upper/lower content limits and function claims. The CAA is accepting public comments on the draft until July 30, 2026.
