MHLW Japan Revises Specifications and Standards for Food and Food Additive

On Oct. 18th, 2018, MHLW revised the residue limit in 8 pesticides and veterinary drugs and exempted one pesticide from the list.

The 8 revised pesticides and veterinary drugs are, acephate, amisulbrom, cyazofamid, dicyclanil, semduramicin, bicyclopyrone, pyflubumide and methamidophos.

A pesticide named hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate (CAS No.53124-00-8) is exempted from the list. An official report last year indicated that the residue of this substance in food will not harm human health.

This revision shall be implemented from the release date. But the residue limit of some food can still follow the former standard within 6 months after the release.
