Philippines Proposes Vitamin and Mineral Limits for Vulnerable Groups

The draft sets new maximum vitamin and mineral levels for food and dietary supplements intended for children, pregnant women, and lactating women.
It also requires micronutrient supplementation program products to follow a separate drug-registration pathway and prohibits the same formulation from being registered as both a food supplement and a drug.
On July 6, 2026, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a draft circular to amend existing regulations on vitamin and mineral supplements. The new draft establishes specific maximum levels for these nutrients in food and dietary supplements intended for children, pregnant women, and lactating women. The regulation, an amendment to FDA Circular No. 2025-001, also clarifies the regulatory pathway for products used in micronutrient supplementation programs.
