On February 4, 2021, MFDS (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety) issued a notification 1 listing the foods prohibited from importation based on the rules specified in Food Sanitation Act 2, including:

*Nevertheless, the below foods and products containing them are allowed to be imported to S. Korea: (1) Processed beef tallow products: The contains of insoluble impurities in products: less than 0.15% (certificate issued by the exporting country's government is required) (2) Gelatin, Collagen: Made from raw skin or leather (certificate issued by the exporting country's government is required) (3) Calcium Phosphate Dibasic: Containing no protein or fats (certificate issued by the exporting country's government is required) |

In accordance with the Article 21 of Food Sanitation Act 2, if imported foods are detected with risk materials or manufactured in harmful environment, MFDS can prohibit importing or selling such foods. The interested nation or enterprises could request canceling the suspending if the prohibited products are recognized to cause no harm to a human body. The Korean authority will publish an announcement to re-permit the importation after undergoing a deliberation or an on-site inspection.
