Recently, Taiwan FDA is inviting public comments on the Draft Regulations Governing the Labeling of Prepackaged Beverages Claimed to Contain Fruit and/or Vegetable Juice. Manufacturers are required to clearly label the juice content of fruit and vegetable on the package to prevent false claiming and ensure the consumers’ right to know.
The labeling will be divided into three cases in terms of the content of fruit and vegetable juice:

| 1 | > 10 % | explicitly label the juice content percentage of fruit/vegetable on the front of the package in line with CNS 2377 “Fruit and Vegetable Juice Products (packaged)” |
| 2 | < 10 % | label the statement “fruit (vegetable) juice content less than 10 %”; or the same as the way in the Case 1. |
| 3 | none but the product is sold and claimed as fruit or vegetable flavored beverage | visibly label the statement like “no real fruit or vegetable juice contained” |
In event of a mixed or assorted fruit and vegetable juice beverage, if its name includes one or several fruit or vegetable, the content of which should account for at least 50 % of the total fruit and vegetable juice. Where two or more fruit or vegetable are included in the product name, their contents shall be labeled on descending order of weight. If the product name does not show all the fruit or vegetable added in the product, the product name shall declare the word “assorted”.
It will come into force from 1 July 2015 so concerned companies have a grace period of 2 years. After its implementation, food providers violating this Regulation would be fined 3 million according to Act Governing Food Sanitation.
