On 3 Mar 2014, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released the revised Labeling Rules of Prepackaged Beverages Containing Fruit and/or Vegetable Juice, which will come into effect on 1 Jul 2014.
After a period of 30 days’ public consultation, the final copy is roughly the same as the draft made public in Jan 2014 (See Chemlinked News 23 Jan 2014), in which partial revisions were made to the original Rules. The revisions strengthen labeling standards in fruit and vegetable beverages. Specifically speaking the major change to the rules redefines the required font size ( see table below) for the labeling of content of fruit and/or vegetable juice and definitions applicable scope and permitted usage of terms used in labelling such as “mixed juice” and “no juice/vegetable.”
