On February 13, 2025, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released the second draft amendment to Items of Health Care Effects According to the Health Food Control Act, which proposes to incorporate knee joint care into the health care effect items. Besides, the draft Efficacy Assessment Method of Health Food for Knee Joints was released simultaneously. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit opinions within 60 days following the announcement.
After the draft amendments come into force, health food products tested and proven to have efficacy in knee joint care may claim to help alleviate mild knee joint discomfort or other similar scientifically supported claims.
