Taiwan Approves Knee Joint Care as New Health Food Effect

Taiwan officially adds knee joint care as the fourteenth recognized health care effect.

On July 3, 2025, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) released the updated Items of Health Care Effects According to the Health Food Control Act which officially adds knee joint care as the fourteenth recognized health care effect.

Alongside this update, TFDA published the Efficacy Assessment Method For Health Foods with Knee Joint Care. Enterprises who intend to register health foods under this new effect shall submit an efficacy assessment report in accordance with the specified method. Products that demonstrate proven benefits for knee joint care may carry claims such as “helps alleviate mild knee joint discomfort” or other scientifically substantiated statements.
