On Mar. 8, 2016, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced the revision of the regulation “Product Registration Code Required to be Clearly Labeled for Food Additives”, which will be effective as of Jan. 1, 2017.
Under the new regulation, both single and compound food additives are required to indicate the words “product registration code” and the code number on the containers or outer package. The product registration code of food additives should be added prior to importation.
How to obtain the product registration code:
Log in “Food Trader Login Platform” and fill in the product information.
If all the ingredients inputted are included into the ingredient database of the login platform, the product registration code will be issued immediately after the information is stored.
If the ingredients inputted are not included into the ingredient database of the login platform, it will be verified by the local competent authority. The product registration code will be issued after the ingredients are verified as eligible.
