According to No. 215 notification issued by Thailand Ministry of Public Health on August 25, 2022, Thailand proposed to amend the quality standards for edible oil and fats products. Any comments can be sent back prior to October 7, 2022.
The key revisions are listed below:
The item is removed that the ingredients of mixed fish oil need to be listed in descending order based on the ingredients content on the product label.
It clarifies that oil and fat products used for food flavoring does not belong to edible oil and fats.
The content of erucic acid in plant oil and blended plant oil (excluding mustard oil and rapeseed oil) should not exceed 20 mg/kg, and that in mustard oil and rapeseed oil should not exceed 50 mg/kg 60 mg/kg, respectively.
The iodine level in edible coconut oil is changed from 6-11 g/100g to 5-11 g/100g. The lauric acid content is changed from 45.1%-53.2% to 44.9%-53.2%.
