On May 2, 2025, Thailand released MOPH Notification No. 456 B.E. 2568 (2025) Re: Labeling of Certain Processed Foods. The new requirements—which apply to seven food product categories—took effect on May 3, 2025. Existing labels may remain in use for up to two years from that date.
This notification formally repeals the following seven old MOPH notifications regarding food labeling:
1) MOPH Notification No. 44 B.E. 2523 (1980) Re: Brown Rice Flour
2) MOPH Notification No. 100 B.E. 2529 (1986) Re: Display of Labels of Instant Jelly and Jelly Desserts
3) MOPH Notification No. 200 B.E. 2543 (2000) Re: Sauce in Sealed Containers
4) MOPH Notification No. 224 B.E. 2544 (2001) Re: Bread
5) MOPH Notification No. 228 B.E. 2544 (2001) Re: Chewing Gum and Candy
6) MOPH Notification No. 237 B.E. 2544 (2001) Re: Labeling of Ready-to-Cook Foods and Ready-to-Eat Processed Food
7) MOPH Notification No. 243 B.E. 2544 (2001) Re: Meat Products
With these repeals, all affected products must now comply with the general labeling regulations for processed foods:
MOPH Notification No. 450 B.E. 2567 (2024) Re: Labeling of Prepackaged Foods
MOPH Notification No. 445 B.E. 2566 (2023) Regarding Nutrition Labels
Notably, this notification introduces mandatory on-label warning statements for two product categories:
Food Product | Warning Message | Notes |
Instant jelly and jelly desserts | "Children should consume in small amounts" |
|
Brown rice flour | "Do not use as a substitute for milk for infants" |
