U.S. To Improve Gluten Ingredient Disclosure in Foods

FDA has issued a Request for Information aimed at improving disclosure of non-wheat gluten containing grains (rye, barley, and oats via cross-contact) in packaged foods.

On January 21, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a Request for Information (RFI) aimed at improving transparency in disclosures of non-wheat gluten containing grains (GCGs) and cross-contact issues in packaged foods. The information collected will inform future policy decisions aimed at better protecting consumers with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. The public comment period is open for 60 days from the announcement date.
