[Updated] Malaysia’s List of Recognized Foreign Halal Certification Bodies

The revision incorporates P.U. (A) 184 Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Halal) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2026, issued on May 7, 2026.

In Malaysia, halal certification is mandatory for all animal products (excluding pork). Given that Malaysia is a Muslim-majority country, halal certification is highly advisable for other product categories, although it is not compulsory. To market imported foods as halal in Malaysia, stakeholders must comply with the halal requirements set by Malaysian authorities and obtain a halal certificate. The certificate can be granted from a foreign halal certification body recognized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
