BackgroundForeign halal products imported into Indonesia are not required to obtain new halal certificates if they already hold certificates issued by Overseas Halal Institutions (LHLNs) that have mutual recognition agreements with Indonesia Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH). However, the certificates must be registered with BPJPH by the importer and/or authorized representative before the products can be distributed in Indonesia. |
On September 15, 2025, Indonesia BPJPH issued Decree No. 221 of 2025 on Procedures for Foreign Halal Certificate (SHLN) Registration, which will take effect on December 15, 2025, replacing Decree No. 90 of 2023. 1 The new Decree establishes updated requirements for SHLN registration.
