Bangladesh Proposes New Animal and Animal Product Quarantine Act, 2026

Bangladesh's revised Animal and Animal Product Quarantine Act expands the controlled scope to include livestock production inputs such as semen, embryos, and biologics. The draft also substantially tightens enforcement by sharply increasing penalties and shortening appeal timelines for quarantine-related decisions.

On June 24, 2026, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh released the revised draft of the "Bangladesh Animal and Animal Product Quarantine Act, 2026" to replace the existing "Bangladesh Animal and Animal Product Quarantine Act, 2005". The updated legislation aims to modernize disease control, biosecurity, public health, and trade regulations in alignment with international standards and scientific advancements. The deadline for submitting public feedback on this draft was July 15, 2026.
