Brazil ANVISA Updates Food Supplement Rules on Probiotics, Labeling and Claims
Jun 15, 2026

Brazil’s ANVISA expanded the authorized ingredient list for food supplements by adding new constituents, including specific probiotics, ostrich lard, and guarana fluid extract.
The rule also introduced or revised approved health claims, minimum usage limits, and mandatory warning-label requirements for products containing the newly authorized probiotics.
On June 12, 2026, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published Normative Instruction No. 450/2026, which updates the lists of approved constituents, usage limits, and labeling requirements for food supplements. The amendment introduces new authorized probiotics and other ingredients, along with their associated health claims and warning statements. The regulation became effective immediately upon publication.
