On Jan. 24, 2018, China CFDA issued implementation rules on the 2018 national food sampling program, detailing food categories to be inspected, referenced regulations, inspection method, and tested items associated with various types of food.
Referring to the 2018 food sampling plan released on Jan. 8, food safety inspection in 2018 is to cover 33 main food categories, including dairy products, infant formula food, food for special dietary uses, health food, food additives and will cover over 1.35 million batches. Imported food and online-purchased food is under the supervision of the CFDA. Sampling inspection on imported and online purchased food will be conducted quarterly, and samples will be primarily taken from large-scale chain supermarkets and online shopping platforms (for online purchased food).
