On Feb. 11, 2018, 7 new food additives and 1 new nutritional fortification substance were opened for public feedback by China CFSA. There is 1 new variety of food additives, 1 new variety of enzyme preparations for food industry, and 5 food additives as well as 1 nutritional fortification substance all of which have amended usage levels or expanded application scopes.

Galacto oligosaccharides (GOS, sourced from whey permeate) has been listed in GB 14880 and served as nutritional fortification substance in infant formula food and cereal-based complementary baby food. The latest announcement proposed to expand its application scope to milk powder for children with usage limit of 58.8g/kg.
