China CNCA Announces First Batch of Registered Overseas Honey Producers

The announcement of China’s first batch of registered overseas honey producers foreshadows mandatory registration requirements for all overseas honey producers exporting products to China.

On June 4th, 2018, China CNCA announced the approval of 4 honey manufacturers from Kazakhstan. Products manufactured by three of these manufacturers have also been granted a mature honey certification (please see the detail in our Flist).

The overseas food manufacturer registration catalogue (issued in 2015) stated that overseas enterprises producing meat product, aquatic products, dairy product and bird nest products are required to apply for manufacturer registration approval prior to exporting those foods to China. The release of the first batch of honey enterprise is a signal to overseas honey manufacturer of pending mandatory registration requirements. It is speculated that the related registration document has been drafted and it is expected to be unveiled soon.
