China Customs Rejected 507 Batches of Imported Food in November 2024

On December 24, 2024, General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) published the list of non-compliant food products in November 2024. A total of 507 batches of imported food from 44 countries/regions were rejected.

Most non-compliant imported food in November came from the U.S. (14.8%, mostly beer and health supplement products), followed by Denmark (9.9%, mostly meat products), and Argentina (7.5%, mostly meat products). The major reasons for import rejections were as follows:

  • Unqualified labeling (24.5%)

  • Incompliance with food national standards (23.5%)

  • Discrepancy between cargo and certificate (14.4%)

  • Detection of animal epidemic diseases (14.4%)

  • Lack of market access permits (6.1%)

1. Dairy products 

Five batches of dairy products were rejected by China customs in November. Details are as followings:

2. Baby food 

One batches of complementary baby food from South Korea was rejected due to unqualified bacterial counts.  

3. Health supplement 

A total of 23 batches of health supplements failed customs clearance. Mostly of them were imported from the U.S. and Japan. The main reasons for rejection include unqualified labeling and non-compliance with nutritional requirements.
