On 7 Jan, 2015, AQSIQ announced that apples and pears conforming to the Requirements of Plant Inspection and Quarantine of Apples and Pears Imported from Argentina are allowed to be imported to China after a field investigation and pest risk analysis of apples and pears is conducted in Argentina by Chinese experts.
Approval of orchards and packing plants
Before exporting to China, orchards and packing plants shall register with Argentina’s SENASA and obtain approvals from both countries. Argentine authorities conduct annual audit of exporters and require exporters to pass an inspection process before being added to the list of approved exporters ahead of export season.

Requirements for entry to China
1. Verification of certificates and labels
The License for Quarantine of Entry Animals and Plants shall be attached.
The plant quarantine certificate issued by SENASA shall be attached with the statement “The batch of products conforms to Protocol on Requirements of Plant Inspection and Quarantine for the Argentine Apples and Pears Entry into China, and was found free of quarantine pests concerned by China”.
The contents indicated on the box shall include information such as the name, place of origin, orchard and packing plant in English. Each pallet shall be indicated with “export to People’s Republic of China” in Chinese. The packing materials must be new and clean.
2. Calibration of temperature sensors and confirmation of cold treatment records.
Calibration shall be conducted as fruits arrive at the port. Verification that cold treatment and storage records correspond to calibration results must also be performed.
3. Inspection and quarantine upon entry
Inspection and quarantine on pears shall be performed according to the requirements specified in Manual of Inspection and Quarantine.
Products shall be imported via AQSIQ designated ports.
