On Jan. 26, 2015, AQSIQ announced the approval of Burmese rice imported to China based on field investigation and risk analysis.
Commodity name:
Oryza sativa L. without rice husk or other foreign matters after being grinded and processed
Requirements for processing factories and warehouses:
Burmese rice exporting, processing and warehousing enterprises should be registered with Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, and also be approved by Chinese authorities.
Concerned Quarantine Pests:
Trogoderma granarium
Cryptolestes pusilloides (Stee et Howe)
Callosobruchus oraculates
Cenchrus echinatus
Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & Robinson
Striga hermonthica
Sorghum helepens
Saccharum spontameum
Plant quarantine certificate:
Plant quarantine certificates for rice exported to China should be issued by the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation to prove that the quarantine procedures are up to standard. It should be marked with an additional statement that “this batch of rice meets the requirements of the Protocol on Plant Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for Exporting Rice from Myanmar to China and is free of quarantine pests of concern to China” and also bearing information on specific place of origin.
Fumigation certificate:
Rice exported to China should be fumigated with accompanying fumigation certificate.
Package:
The packaging of rice exported to China should be new and not be contaminated by hazardous pests or substances. It should be marked on the package with the phrase “exporting to the People’s Republic of China” as well as the registration code and address that may identify the category of rice, processing factory, name of exporter and relevant enterprises.
