On April 29, 2024, China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued a notification announcing the simplification of required documents for the registration and filing application of imported health food.
As per the notification, in line with the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (hereafter as the Convention), SAMR decides to implement more relaxed requirements for several documents related to the registration and filing of imported health food.
These documents include the qualification certification documents, marketing and sales certification documents, quality management system certification documents of production enterprises, power of attorney (agreement), etc.
For these documents issued by a contracting party to the Convention, only an Apostille of that country is required. Consular authentication from the country and the Chinese embassy or consulate in the local area is no longer necessary, except for cases explicitly stated as not applicable in the list of contracting parties to the Convention published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
