On 21 November, China’s MoH has lodged to WTO a notification of new national standard for the labeling of pre-packaged foods for special dietary uses. The special dietary products refer to the food that have been uniquely processed or formulated to people who have special physical or medical conditions.
The draft of the new standard was published on 4 September and was opened for public consultation till the end of October. The amended draft is opened for comments within 60 days after circulation by the WTO secretariat. The date of adoption and the effective deadline of the new standard are both yet to be determined.
