Health Canada Consults on Revised Guidance for Natural Health Product Summary Reports

Health Canada has launched a consultation on a draft guidance for summary reports, introducing a more structured notification process for significant changes in product risk-benefit profiles. The draft provides clearer, separate requirements for drugs and Natural Health Products (NHPs) and details specific content expectations for Annual Summary Reports (ASRs).

On October 24, 2025, Health Canada initiated a 60-day consultation on a draft guidance document that revises the requirements for preparing and submitting summary reports for marketed drugs and Natural Health Products (NHPs). The consultation, which closes on December 23, 2025, seeks stakeholder feedback on the proposed changes aimed at consolidating existing guidance, enhancing clarity, and refining regulatory processes. The update introduces a new form for notifying significant changes and separates the guidance for drugs and NHPs to better address their distinct regulatory frameworks.
