India Overhauls Food Licensing Rules: Permits to Get Perpetual Validity

In March 2026, India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare approved sweeping FSSAI regulatory reforms for the food industry, introducing lifetime licenses, higher turnover thresholds, deemed registration for street vendors, and risk-based inspections to enhance ease of doing business and food safety oversight.

In a landmark move to slash bureaucratic red tape and foster a more business-friendly environment, India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has officially approved a sweeping set of regulatory reforms for the food industry in March 2026.
