India Sets Limits for Melamine in Milk and Milk Products

On 4 Aug 2015, India released WTO notification G/SPS/N/IND/108 detailing amendments to the food Safety regulations and standards namely “Contaminants, Toxins and Residues Regulations, 2011”. In addition, the limits of melamine in milk and milk products are also prescribed, 1.0mg/kg in powdered infant formula, 0.15mg/kg in liquid infant formula milk and 2.5mg/kg in other foods respectively.

Later on 7 Aug, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India published a draft to set the limit of chromium in gelatin, 10mg/kg.
