MERCOSUR Updates Aflatoxin Limits for Milk Products
Jul 13, 2026
Jerry Wang
MERCOSUR has updated the maximum permissible aflatoxin limits for milk, corn, and peanuts to align regional technical requirements with Codex-based international standards.
The resolution also simplifies lot acceptance by allowing rejection when the first subsample test result exceeds the applicable maximum limit.
On June 28, 2026, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR)'s Common Market Group (GMC) released Resolution GMC No. 23/26. This new regulation amends the maximum permissible limits for aflatoxins in milk, corn, and peanuts to align regional standards with international guidelines from the Codex Alimentarius. MERCOSUR Member States are required to incorporate this resolution into their national legal frameworks by December 25, 2026.
