On August 31, Indonesian National Agency for Drug and Food Control (NADFC) re-notified the WTO of NADFC RI No.14 of 2016 on the Safety and Quality Standard of Alcoholic Beverages. The comment deadline is October 30, 2016. NADFC firstly notified WTO of this regulation on 30 June.
This regulation outlines the safety, quality, labeling and advertising requirements of both domestic and imported alcoholic beverages. The regulation sets the maximum levels of methanol, microbial and chemical contamination limits, and specifies the additives that can be used in alcoholic beverages. Under the notification consumption of alcoholic beverages by people under 21 years old or by pregnant woman is illegal. Use of mass media to advertise and promote alcohol consumption is also prohibited.
