Japan Revised Testing Methods for Residues in Food

Japan has partly revised the “Residue Testing Methods for Pesticides, Feed Additives and Veterinary Medicine Substances in Food”.

The main changes are summarized below:

1. In Chapter 2, “Testing Methods for Pesticides and Others-LC/MS (aquatic products)” has been modified into “Testing Methods I for Pesticides and Others-LC/MS (aquatic products). “Testing Methods II for Pesticides and Others- LC/MS (aquatic products)” has been newly added.

2. In Chapter 3, “Testing Methods for Halosulfuron-methyl (agricultural products)” has been added, following “Testing Methods for Validamycin (agricultural products).
“Testing Methods II for Pesticides and Others- LC/MS (aquatic products)” could also been applied to the testing for meat, fat and liver of beef, meat and egg of chicken, honey, eel, salmon and fresh water clam.

Also in Chapter 3, “Testing Methods for Halosulfuron-methyl) could be applied to the testing for meat, fat and liver of beef, meat and egg of chicken, milk, honey, eel, salmon and fresh water clam. “Testing Methods for Tiadinil” could be applied to the testing for coarse rice, bean, sesame, spinach, kohlrabi, tomato, potato, apple, orange and tea.
