Japan Revises Limits of Pesticide and Veterinary Drug Residue in Food

On Nov. 16, 2020, Japan MHLW revised the residue limits of 6 pesticides and veterinary drugs in foods.

On Nov. 16, 2020, Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced amendments to "Standards and criteria for food and food additives, etc. ", which mainly revises the residue limit of 6 pesticides and veterinary drugs in food, including Oxathiapiprolin, Tildipirosin, Nanafrocin, Pydiflumetofen, Pyrimidifen and Mefentrifluconazole.

This revision will be implemented immediately as of release date.

However, the MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits) of substances listed in the following table will come into effect one year after the promulgation.

Oxathiapiprolin

Watercress, Watermelon, Watermelon (including pericarp), Melon, and Melon (including pericarp)

Pyrimidifen

Brussels sprout, Orange, Oranges (including outer pericarp), Citrus natsudaidai, apples, Pyrus pyrifolia var. Culta, P. communis, Peach, peach (including pericarp and seeds), and tea.
