Japan Revises the Maximum Residue Limits of 5 Pesticides in Food

Pesticides subject to amendment are Azoxystrobin, Cyflufenamid, Bixafen, Pyrifluquinazon, and Pyriproxyfen; The implementation of MRLs for 4 pesticides in the designated food were given 1 year grace period;

On Feb.3, 2021, Japan MHLW unveiled the amendment to "Standards and Criteria for Food and Food Additives, etc. ", which mainly revised the residue limits of 5 pesticides. They are Azoxystrobin, Cyflufenamid, Bixafen, Pyrifluquinazon, and Pyriproxyfen. The amendments became effective upon its publication on Feb. 3.

However, the maximum residue limits of the substances in some food will be effective one year after the promulgation, which are shown in the table below.
