South Korea Dairy Products Regulation
On 15 Jan 2016, Korea’s MFDS promulgated a series of amendments to the “Processing Standards and Ingredient Specifications for Livestock Products”.
1. Natural cheese: the scope of natural cheese is expanded to those using whey as the raw material.
Milk fat specifications will not apply to cheese made by low-fat milk processed products such as skimmed milk, low-fat milk and skimmed milk powder.
2. Milk formula processing standards: Carbon dioxide or a mixture of carbon dioxide and nitrogen can be used for packaging of milk formula.
3. Testing methods for milk formula
Corresponding testing methods shall be established as new standards have been introduced for selenium.
Machine analytical methods for niacin and b12 in milk vitamins.
Testing methods for carbides are separately set up.
4. Testing methods for phosphatase in milk products are revised.
