Malaysia Promulgates the Import Requirements for Empty Gelatin Capsule Products

Malaysia’s Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) published a notice on July 23, 2024, publishing the regulatory requirements for importing empty gelatin capsule products.

As per the notice, the import of empty gelatin capsule products must get permission from the DVS unless the products are from a plant that has been approved by the DVS. The details required for each application are as follows:

i. An official application letter from the importing company contains the following information:

a. Company profile

b. Estimated date of importation

c. The quantity of the product to be imported

d. Manufacturer's factory information

e. Purpose of importation

ii. GMP/HACCP certificate or equivalent for factories producing empty gelatin capsules.

iii. Halal certificate for factories producing empty gelatin capsules.
