The announcement issued by China GAC on Jun. 19, 2018 stated that 169 batches of food failed import inspection in May. Wine, pastry biscuits, and beverage account for the majority of non-compliant goods, and the major reasons for import rejection were label issues, unqualified certificates and excessive use of food additives.
Dairy products
A batch of Devondale pure milk from Australia was rejected due to use of non-compliant packaging. This is already the 6th time that Devondale suffered GAC rejection (read CL news here) since August last year. 3 batches of shredded mozzarella cheese (whose fat content is 40%, 42% and 45% respectively) from Russia exceeded shelf life, and a batch of French goat cheese was rejected due to exceeding yeast and mould limitations.
Complementary baby food
5 batches of complementary baby food from 2 overseas manufacturers failed inspection. Plasmon fruit puree produced by Heinz Italia failed due to excessive use of Vitamin C, and the other 4 batches from Spain used non-compliant labels.
Wine
Suntory has been blacklisted as it did not provide an origin certificate for its 18 batches of fruit wine. In addition a batch of white wine from France was also flagged due to a discrepancy between cargo and corresponding certification, and a batch of French wine was also found to have non-compliant packaging.
