On Dec 16th, 2019, MFDS released the Guideline for Food Nutrition Labeling to help business operators label food products correctly. As revealed by this guideline, the compliance procedures can be divided into 10 steps as follows.

Compliance in Ten Steps

  1. Check the product to see if it is labeled with the nutrition fact table

  2. Decide the nutrients you want to display

  3. Calculate the nutrient content

  4. Ensure the unit for labeling

  5. Calculate the nutrient content based on the unit

  6. Calculate the proportion of NRV (nutrition reference value) needed in a day

  7. Decide the position, format and size for the labeling

  8. Display the nutrition fact table after step 7

  9. Check the nutrient you want to emphasize to see if it has conformed to relevant requirements

  10. Make the final confirmation

Besides, this guideline also provides a decision tree to help business operators find the labeling unit according to different packaging methods, etc. What’s more, a QA session is also attached.
