New Rules for a Supplementary Food Ingredient in Taiwan

Taiwan FDA set new rules on glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, establishing its scope and usage limits.

On 21st of March, Taiwan FDA announced new rules to formally manage the substance (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, glucosamine salt (a folate) as food ingredient. 

They include chemical and physical requirements, while scope and usage limits shall follow MOHW food additive standard for folic acid (limited to supplementary foods and with a maximum content of 225 μg per 300g in infant supplements). The regulation entered into effect on the day of publishing.
