On Mar. 16, 2018, China AQSIQ issued data on non-compliant imported food in Feb. 2018. 78 batches of food were rejected mainly due to substandard quality, non-compliant label, and microorganism contamination. Meat, beverage and aquatic products accounted for the majority of non-compliance.
It is worth noting that 2 batches of Bimbosan infant formula (amounting to over 35 tons) were rejected due to excessive choline concentration. Those products were produced by HOCHDORF Swiss Nutrition Ltd. (manufacture date: Apr. 18, 2017) and Bimbosan has officially announced that non-compliant batches have all been destroyed before entering China.
In June, 2017, Bimbosan was also rejected due to excessive bacterial contamination. Furthermore, it has not been granted formula registration approval as yet (see approved infant formula in F-list). It is still unclear if this recent import rejection will affect Bimbosan's formula registration approval going forward.
