South Korea Revises Food Code to Enhance Nutrition for Infants and Liver Cirrhosis Patients

1. Revising standards and specifications for infant milk formulas and other non-dairy-based formulas 2. Establishing standards and specifications for nutritional formula foods intended for patients with liver cirrhosis 3. Introducing cadmium residual limits for cocoa and chocolates products 4. Revising foodborne pathogen standards for meat meal kits 5. Establishing and revising pesticide residue limits in food 6. Designating veterinary drug Phenacetin as a substance that cannot be detected in foods due to its carcinogenicity

On August 26, 2025, the South Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety promulgated revisions to the Food Code. The revised provisions will take effect on October 1, 2025, except for certain amendments with specified implementation schedules.
