Taiwan Formulates Administrative Measures for Tracing and Tracking System of Food and Relevant Products

On November 19, 2013, Taiwan FDA formulated Administrative Measures for Tracing and Tracking System of Food and Relevant Products, which was put into force as of its promulgation. The regulatory scope of this measure defines “food and relevant products” as food, special dietary food, food additives, food utensils, food container or packaging and detergents used in food applications as stipulated in Article 3 of Act Governing Food Sanitation. The tracing and tracking system refers to tracing the supply source of products or tracking products throughout the supply chain, and the establishment of an information management system.

  4. Product flow direction (1. The information of logistics personnel and downstream manufacturer; 2. Product name; 3. Net weight, capacity, quantity and measurement; 4. Batch number; 5. Valid date or manufacturing date; 6. Delivery date)

  5. Other internal tracing and tracking information related to the product

Please note that Point 6 and 7 in the first item are different from that of other objects.

Import business of food and relevant products

  1. Product information (1. Chinese and English name of the product; 2. Main and auxiliary materials; 3. Food additives; 4. Packaging container; 5. Storage and transportation condition; 6. Name of commodity inspection declarer; 7. Net weight, capacity, quantity and measurement; 8. Valid date or manufacturing date; 9. Input the permission notification number of food and relevant products issued by food inspection organ.)

  2. Marking (including the unique symbols, batch number, words, images, etc. on raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products for identification)

  3. Information of supplier (1. Information of exporter, manufacturer (butcher); 2. Product name; 3. Net weight, capacity, quantity and measurement; 4. Batch number; 5. Valid date or manufacturing date; 6. Receiving date; 7. Central governing authority should mark the place of origin of raw materials, and keep the materials of place (country) of origin.)

  4. Product flow direction (1. The information of logistics personnel and downstream manufacturer; 2. Product name; 3. Net weight, capacity, quantity and measurement; 4. Batch number; 5. Valid date or manufacturing date; 6. Delivery date)

Sales and export business of food and relevant products

Receiving date; 7. Central governing authority should mark the place of origin of raw materials, and keep the materials of place (country) of origin.)

Food trade personnel should keep tracking and tracing documentation for six month after the validity date in written or electronic form.
