Taiwan to Limit Purchase of Personal Use Foods in Tablet and Capsule Form

On Dec. 2, 2015, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced relevant regulations which have further limited the volume of foods in tablet and capsule forms which can be purchased for personal use from overseas. The new regulation came into effect on Dec. 1, 2015.

The limitations on the volume of foods in tablet and capsule form purchased from overseas for personal use (which are exempted from imported food inspection and are released by customs directly) has been adjusted from less than 1,200 pills for each category of product to 12 bottles (packaged by boxes, cans or bags). The total volume shall not be more than 36 bottles.

Products imported to Taiwan through these channels must not be resold. The exemption from inspection qualification will be suspended for one year in case of any violations.
