On May 9, 2016, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced the revision of “Standard for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods”, which amends or adds the residue limits of 6 pesticides in 40 types of fruits, vegetables and grain products.

The 6 pesticides with amended residue limits are:

  • Abamectin
  • Chlorothalonil
  • Dimethomorph
  • Fluxapyroxad
  • Metolachlor
  • Spinosad

For imported agricultural products pesticide residue limits will be established separately to factor in the variations in plant disease and pest control methods in different countries. These residue limits will be established after evaluation of the scientific support documentation, pesticide toxicity materials, residue field trial materials, and overseas pesticide approval and registration conditions.

The pesticide residues of domestically sold agricultural products will be monitored by TFDA. Any activities violating the established pesticide residual limits would be punished with a fine from TWD 60,000 to 200 million.
