China's Imported Food Rejections Hit Two-Year High: May 2026 Non-Compliant Imports Analysis

China Customs is enforcing increasingly stringent border checks, with non-compliant food consignments most often rejected for additive misuse, animal disease concerns, documentation mismatches, and labeling defects. GMO screening has also become a major compliance focus, as even trace, undeclared, or unapproved GMO ingredients can trigger rejection under China’s testing and declaration requirements.
