On the 28th of Apr 2016, China AQSIQ during its press conference reported the quality status of all imported products in the past three months. For food, 904 batches from 22 categories and from 57 countries/regions failed CIQ inspection.

The biggest problem categories were pastry & cookies, beverages and alcohol for reasons like microbial contamination, quality problems and incorrect labeling. All these noncompliant products have been returned or destroyed by local CIQs.

Food safety issues like contamination, spoiling during shipping etc. are inevitable but unqualified labeling can be easily avoided. It’s recommended that overseas food manufacturers or exporters can entrust a trustful third party to recheck the labels and confirm all contents before printing.
