EU added a new authorized substance for the manufacturing of plastic FCMs. UK proposed legislative reforms on nutrition and health claims. US proposed to restrict the use of partially hydrogenated oils in foods. Canada authorized the use of a new food enzyme. Australia Extends the Validity of Standard Import Permits for Animal-based Foods
Aug 28, 2023
On August 18, 2023, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) of Australia announced an extension in the validity length of most standard import permits granted by Biosecurity Animal Division. This change will take effect for applications submitted on and after August 18, 2023.

July’s Updates on Maximum Residue Limits in Australia and New Zealand

Australia and New Zealand each independently establishes maximum residue limits (MRLs) for agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals in food. This article discusses the MRL updates in Australia and the proposed MRL changes in New Zealand in July. On July 25, 2023, Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority issued Gazette No. 15, which included variations to Schedule 20 Maximum Residue Limits in the Australia New Zealand Food Standard Code.
