Hong Kong Proposes Amendments to the Preservatives in Food Regulation

Hong Kong Government launched a public consultation on the proposed amendments to the Preservatives in Food Regulation, in order to keep the standards of preservatives and antioxidants on par with international standards. An 18-month grace period will be given after the regulation's enactment.

Hong Kong to Ban CBD Products in February 2023

In June 2022, Hong Kong Security Bureau submitted a paper to the Hong Kong Legislative Council, proposing to list CBD under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. 1 Following that, on October 26, 2022, the Hong Kong government submitted the amendments to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and Control of Chemicals Ordinance to the Legislative Council, including the legislative control of CBD under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.

Hong Kong Proposes to Ban CBD Products within 2022

According to a industry media, Hong Kong Security Bureau submitted a paper to the Hong Kong Legislative Council in June, proposing to list CBD (cannabidiol) under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Ordinance) in 2022. If the paper is passed, Hong Kong will ban the manufacture, supply, import, export, transshipment, sale and possession of CBD-containing products (including CBD cosmetics).
