On August 26th, the AQSIQ announced it would intensify supervision of 186 food import enterprises.

All 186 enterprises, including 66 import agents, 61 overseas manufactures, and 63 overseas exporters, have bad food import records related to compliance or safety issues. AQSIQ has published the names and associated details in the “Import Food and Cosmetic Safety Risk Alert Notification”.

For the blacklisted enterprises, an extended import verification process is conducted and specific testing reports or qualification documents for each batch of good will be mandatorily requested by CIQs. The most frequently required testing reports include microbiological index, specific additives and sensory evaluation certificates. “Import Food and Cosmetic Safety Risk Alert Notification” is a dynamic system that is updated regularly. Blacklisted enterprise should take appropriate measures to ensure the quality and safety of imported food. After a period of time blacklisted companies will be removed from the blacklist and inspection and quarantine processes will return to normal.
